Procedure for the delayed start workaround

Problem

The Neteros server is intended to start automatically whenever your computer starts/restarts. However, there is a known problem in Windows (tested on Windows 10) that prevents it from being started.

Solution

Set the Windows service for Neteros to have a delay when it's started during startup. This means the Neteros server will not start right away (even though your whole Desktop is ready), but it will eventually start after a short delay.

Steps

  1. Go to the Services App (the one with the gear icon)

  2. Look for the entry named nts_nts in the list of services (they're in alphabetical order)

nts_nts is the name for the Windows service of the Neteros server. You will notice that its current Startup type is set to Automatic.

  3. Double click on the entry for nts_nts to open up its properties

  4. Select the option Automatic (Delayed Start) on the dropdown for Startup type

  5. Apply the changes

To test if the setting has taken effect, restart your computer.

After the restart, wait for a minute or two then check the Services App again. The entry for nts_nts should have a Startup type of Automatic (Delayed Start) and options to Stop or Restart the service. Once you confirm this, it means that you have successfully fixed the problem.
